Below is a menu of different types of Federation space stations. In the yellow fields are the names stations; the red fields contain links to the images; the green fields offer information on the stations, along with the episode or film in which it was first featured. Note: Most Federation starbases were located on planetary surfaces, while some were space stations. |
DEEP SPACE STATION K-7 |
Federation outpost near Sherman's planet. Various other space stations of the mid-23rd century used a similar design as K-7. ("The Trouble with Tribbles" [TOS]) |
ORBITAL OFFICE COMPLEX |
Space station orbiting Earth, part of Starfleet's San Francisco Yards facility. (The Motion Picture) |
RELAY STATION 47 |
Remote Starfleet communications station near the Klingon border. Most of the operation of the station were automated, although a two-person crew provided for nonroutine operations and maintenance. A network of such station throughout federation space permits interstellar communications between distant points with much shorter time lags than unboosted subspace radio transmissions would require. ("Aquiel" [TNG]) |
STARBASE 173 |
Space station facility located Sector 23, near the Romulan Neutral Zone. The Regula I Space Laboratory, seen in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, and starbases seen in Deep Space Nine also used a similar design. ("The Measure of a Man" [TNG]) |
SPACEDOCK |
Massive station orbiting planet Earth, providing service facilities for Starfleet vessels. Several other Federation starbases are of the same design as Spacedock. (Star Trek III: The Search for Spock) |
UTOPIA PLANITIA FLEETYARDS |
Martian orbital facility responsible for the conception of the U.S.S. Enterprise D and other Galaxy class starships. |
