Federation Space Stations
Below is a menu of different types of Federation space stations. In the yellow fields are the names stations; the red fields contain links to the images; the green fields offer information on the stations, along with the episode or film in which it was first featured. Note: Most Federation starbases were located on planetary surfaces, while some were space stations.

DEEP SPACE STATION K-7

Federation outpost near Sherman's planet. Various other space stations of the mid-23rd century used a similar design as K-7. ("The Trouble with Tribbles" [TOS])

ORBITAL OFFICE COMPLEX

Space station orbiting Earth, part of Starfleet's San Francisco Yards facility. (The Motion Picture)

RELAY STATION 47

Remote Starfleet communications station near the Klingon border. Most of the operation of the station were automated, although a two-person crew provided for nonroutine operations and maintenance. A network of such station throughout federation space permits interstellar communications between distant points with much shorter time lags than unboosted subspace radio transmissions would require. ("Aquiel" [TNG])

STARBASE 173

Space station facility located Sector 23, near the Romulan Neutral Zone. The Regula I Space Laboratory, seen in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, and starbases seen in Deep Space Nine also used a similar design. ("The Measure of a Man" [TNG])

SPACEDOCK

Massive station orbiting planet Earth, providing service facilities for Starfleet vessels. Several other Federation starbases are of the same design as Spacedock. (Star Trek III: The Search for Spock)

UTOPIA PLANITIA FLEETYARDS

Martian orbital facility responsible for the conception of the U.S.S. Enterprise D and other Galaxy class starships.
